Dataflownet grew out of conversations with building managers who were juggling spreadsheets, group chats and paper folders to keep apartment buildings running.
Strata management sits at an unusual intersection. A single building manager might be responsible for dozens of units, a handful of common areas, several recurring compliance obligations and an ever-changing list of tradespeople. Requests arrive by phone, by email, by a note slipped under the office door.
Our founding team spent time observing this process directly in mid-sized residential buildings across Western Australia. The pattern was consistent: maintenance requests were rarely the problem. Losing track of them was.
Early versions of the platform were shaped by feedback sessions with managers overseeing buildings ranging from twelve units to more than a hundred. Their requirements were specific: a request queue that could be scanned in seconds, a way to keep tradesperson details in one place, and a document library that would not require training to use.
We also spoke with residents, many of whom simply wanted a straightforward way to report an issue and know it had been received. That single expectation, a visible acknowledgement, shaped how status updates work throughout the platform today.
Every screen is designed so a resident or committee volunteer with no technical background can use it without a manual. Features are added only when they solve a problem observed in real buildings.
Personal contact details are never shared between residents and tradespeople directly. Communication happens through the platform, keeping a record while protecting privacy.
Dataflownet helps organise records relevant to strata governance, such as by-laws and meeting minutes, but does not provide legal advice. Buildings remain responsible for meeting their own regulatory obligations under relevant state strata legislation.
Whether a manager oversees one building or a portfolio of many, the same dashboard structure applies, with filtering by property so nothing gets confused between sites.
We're happy to walk through the platform using examples relevant to your building type and portfolio size.
